Floor protection for renovations and moves in Amsterdam

A renovation is temporary. Scratches in a wooden floor or plaster residue in carpet are not. Smartcleaners installs floor protection for renovations, moves and events in Amsterdam, so that traffic and building work leave as few marks as possible.

Clean, protected floors in a business entrance

When is floor protection needed?

Whenever a floor that needs to stay intact temporarily faces heavy traffic, heavy objects or dust. An office moving, with trolleys and roll containers running along the corridor. A VvE where one flat is being renovated while tradespeople come and go through the shared stairwell. A reception area hosting an evening event. We coordinate with the client and, where needed, with the contractor or project manager.

How we apply the protection

Before we start, we look at the floor: what material, what finish and how vulnerable is it? We ask how long the work will take and what will go over the floor, because foot traffic is different from scaffolding or a pallet truck. Based on that, we choose the type of covering.

Where needed, we clean the floor first. Sand or grit left under the protection can still cause scratches. We then lay the protection and secure seams and edges, so nobody trips and no dirt gets underneath. Afterwards we clear everything away again, as agreed.

Planning and tailoring per project

Floor protection is project work, not a regular weekly service. For a move the protection is down briefly, for a renovation sometimes for the entire duration. If a project runs longer, we can agree to check in between and replace damaged sections. Afterwards the floor can be given a cleaning treatment, so the space is ready for use again. That falls under our Carpets & floors service.

Projects in and around Amsterdam

We work on projects all over Amsterdam, from canal houses in the centre to offices in Zuid and homes in Oost, Noord or Nieuw-West. Also in the surrounding area, such as Amstelveen and Diemen. In old city-centre buildings, stairs and corridors are often narrow. That calls for covering that stays firmly in place and keeps the way clear.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Can’t we just lay the protection ourselves?
You can. The difference is in the details: a clean surface, covering that suits the floor and seams that stay closed. That’s exactly where damage occurs otherwise.
Do you work with our contractor?
Yes, where needed. We coordinate with the contractor or project manager on when the protection needs to go down and when it can come up.
Which floors can you protect?
We match the covering to the type of floor, whether that’s wood, carpet, natural stone or linoleum. Tell us what’s there and we’ll see what fits.
